The Florida Department of Transportation contracted with Community Asphalt Corp to widen the portion of the turnpike from Jupiter to Ft. Pierce, FL. This project was built to accommodate population growth and industry, reduce congestion, and improve evacuation and emergency response times. Ferreira Southern was subcontracted to install intelligent transportation systems. Those systems included 16,797 LF of open trench conduit, 523 LF of directional bore conduit, 73,254 LF of insulated lightning conductors, and 58,614 LF of lightning conductors, and removal of 61,244 LF of inactive lightning conductors.
