Woodbridge Energy Center

Location:
Woodbridge, New Jersey

Owner:
Competitive Power Ventures

Year Completed:
2014

The Woodbridge Energy Center is a 725-megawatt natural gas-fueled power generation facility. The facility was transformed from a chemical plant to the current gas-fueled plant, beginning in 2013.  Ferreira and EJ Electric worked as a Joint Venture to design and build the off-site improvements connecting the updated facility to the grid. The JV was responsible for constructing a new 230kV switchyard at the generation facility, the installation of 21 transmission towers with deep foundations, 10,000 LF of 20” HDPE forced grey water line, 2.2 miles of 230kV transmission lines, 11,130 LF of directional drilling using Fusible PVC©, and the installation of 1.7 miles of underground 230kV direct burial cable. The JV also upgraded the existing JCP&L Raritan substation allowing the utility connection. Currently, the Woodbridge Energy Center is one of the nation’s cleanest and most efficient power generation facilities.
