SoFi Stadium is the new home of the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers. The sleek state-of-the-art stadium has the latest technology, enhancing the ultimate fan experience. Construction began on the stadium in 2016 and officially opened in 2020. Turner and AECOM Hunt JV contracted Ferreira Coastal to install wet and dry utilities. The wet utilities portion of the project includes storm (59,000 LF of pipe, 110 structures, 70,000 SF of biofiltration ponds), sewer (23,000 LF of pipe and 110 manholes), and reclaimed water (13,000 LF of pipe). For the dry utilities portion of the project, Ferreira Coastal was responsible for the installation of electric duct banks, vaults, manholes, and temporary power for the site.
SoFi Stadium officials worked with the West Basin Municipal Water District to develop a similar water recycling program with the goal of creating sustainable water usage in and around the SoFi Stadium. Ferreira Coastal was contracted to install a 321,000-gallon rainwater harvesting cistern comprised of 1,570 LF of 72” steel reinforced polyethylene pipe that discharges into multiple irrigation systems.
In 2021, SoFi Stadium welcomed back 70,000 spectators to the sports and entertainment complex. The stadium will be host to Super Bowl LVI, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2028 Olympics, the 2023 College Football Championship, and other entertainment and sporting events.
