PSEG Penn’s Neck Substation

Location:
Princeton, New Jersey

Owner:
PSEG

Year Completed:
2021

After Superstorm Sandy plowed through New Jersey, PSEG understood the need to upgrade and harden its electrical infrastructure. They created the 69kV Statewide Initiative to replace or supplement 50-plus-year-old 26kV lines with new 69kV power throughout the state. These projects are done either within existing substations and switching stations, or through the construction of new stations, and include installing and replacing overhead lines.

The enhanced power lines are carried on taller, sturdier replacement poles along existing routes. Working closely with PSEG, Ferreira was the prime contractor and was responsible for foundation construction, duct bank, and manhole installation as well as site grading, fencing, and restoration.
