Our Roots

In 1993, Ferreira Trucking transitioned into Ferreira Construction when we were awarded our first transportation infrastructure project. Following this award, Ferreira transformed into a nationally recognized civil and utility construction company. Ferreira has built a diverse team of individuals experienced in civil, power, gas, and renewable energy construction. Ferreira’s current operations employ over 1,500 personnel throughout the United States. This depth of experience and knowledge allows Ferreira to deliver the safest and highest quality projects.

Today, with Nelson’s continued innovation and leadership, Ferreira is a national leader in the construction industry. Ferreira has headquarters in Branchburg, New Jersey, with regional offices in Florida, New York, California, Rhode Island, and Virginia. Additionally, Ferreira has expanded its services to include transportation, utility, power, marine construction, and renewable energy. Ferreira now employs over 1,500 employees across the United States and completed $500 million in annual sales. Aside from the expansion of Ferreira, Nelson has established the Ferreira Family of Companies including Vanguard Energy Partners, American Pile and Foundation, Ferreira Power South, Ferreira UTEC, Ferreira Power Group, Ferreira Power West, and Patriot Line Clearing.

Our Future

Since 1988, Ferreira has continuously evolved, adding to and expanding our portfolio of services to reflect the needs of the construction industry. Since designing and building the first net-zero electric building in the United States over a decade ago, Ferreira has valued renewable energy and its benefits. Being renewable energy users ourselves, we strive to provide our current and future clients with sustainable options, showing them the advantages for their business, the environment, and the community. We partner with other forward-thinking firms to design, construct, and deliver quality transportation, utility, electrical, power, marine, and renewable construction projects. As Nelson’s vision progresses for Ferreira and its affiliates, he moves forward, finding new and innovative possibilities to build the future with pride.

Nelson Ferreira

President/CEO

Nelson Ferreira is a naturally gifted entrepreneur and leader.  His greatest asset is his forward-thinking, quickly followed by his exceptional instinct to hire the right people to make his vision a reality.  Nelson embarked on his first business endeavor in 1988 with the creation of Ferreira Trucking Inc., and the company has transformed from a small startup to Ferreira Construction, a premier national contractor.  Today, Ferreira has offices in NJ, NY, RI, FL, CA, VA, GA, and TX, generates over $500 million in revenue, and employs over 1,500 employees.  Nelson is the core of Ferreira and is responsible for the company’s 100% commitment to safety, business development, market strategy, and overall company growth.  Continuing with his vision of diversity and growth, Nelson started Ferreira Family of Companies, including Vanguard Energy Partners, American Pile and Foundation, Ferreira Power Group, SM Electric, Ferreira Power West, Patriot Line Clearing, Ferreira UTEC, and Ferreira Power South.  Nelson has a unique business sense, relentless work ethic, and the highest of standards for values.  In addition to Nelson’s business achievements, he has a genuine passion for helping people and his community.

Tino Garcia

Senior Vice President

Tino Garcia has been with Ferreira since 1995 and was Nelson Ferreira’s first management hire. Alongside Nelson, he guided the company through its early years as a small contractor, helping to transform Ferreira into a prominent contractor in the New Jersey market. Tino accepted the challenge of expanding operations in Florida and is now responsible for managing Ferreira’s southeast region of the United States. His critical role in overseeing the southern operations has led to several significant contract awards. Tino’s unique ability to pinpoint essential items while bidding and building projects has led to many successful outcomes for Ferreira and continues to be a valuable resource on complex bids and projects.  Tino is actively involved in industry associations such as The Moles and the UTCA, serving as President in 2016. Tino is vital to the company’s executive management team and helps to define company policies and procedures. He has been and continues to be instrumental in the company’s growth and development.

Nancy Vliet, P.E.

Senior Vice President

Nancy Vliet Cucco has been with Ferreira since 1999 and is responsible for the overall successful execution of Ferreira’s projects in New York and California. Nancy is a licensed professional engineer in the State of New Jersey and is a member of the Moles and the Beavers. Her passion for construction began with her first job out of college as a field engineer. She uses her experience and technical background to work with the project team to ensure projects are completed safely, within budget, and on schedule. Nancy also coordinates senior staff meetings and spearheads the development and implementation of innovative management techniques, employee conflict resolution, and professional advancement. Nancy is a vital part of the company’s executive management team that defines company policies and procedures and continues to be instrumental in the company’s growth and development.

Brian Delpome

Senior Vice President

Brian Delpome has been with Ferreira since 2000 and manages the New Jersey field operations, Ferreira’s largest division. He also manages our newly formed MidAtlantic Division, ensuring that all company resources are deployed efficiently and professionally to perform work safely, within budget, and on schedule. Brian reviews complex critical bids, oversees the estimating department, and is the company’s New Jersey union liaison and labor relations negotiator. In addition to his field responsibilities, Brian is vital to the company’s executive management team that defines company policies and procedures. He has been and continues to be instrumental in the company’s growth and development.

Brandon Pensick

Senior Vice President, California

Brandon Pensick has been with Ferreira Coastal since 2013. When Brandon joined Ferreira Coastal, the company did not have a presence on the west coast, and he was tasked with creating a name and business model for Ferreira Coastal. Brandon’s natural ability to lead, his passion for the industry, his tireless work ethic, and his impeccable reputation made this a successful launch for Ferreira. Brandon is responsible for all the divisions of Ferreira Coastal. His responsibilities include business development, planning, direction, and coordination of the California offices. He does this by ensuring the California operations use cost-effective practices and are efficiently run to meet the current and future needs of Ferreira Coastal. Brandon encourages his team to explore new processes and systems, whether it is using state-of-the-art equipment, more sustainable practices, or by taking experience and integrating it into current procedures to produce better results.

Christopher Kunkel

Corporate General Counsel & Ethics and Compliance Officer

Chris has been with Ferreira since 2018 and is responsible for delivering all the Ferreira Family of Companies’ legal services and compliance programs by developing specific company policies and procedures, which ensures the Ferreira Family of Companies adheres to applicable rules, regulations, and laws. Before joining Ferreira, Chris was a partner of an Am Law 200 firm, where he primarily focused on construction, surety, and commercial litigation matters.  In 2015, Chris was named one of New Jersey’s “New Leaders of the Bar” (formerly “Top 40 Lawyers Under 40”) by the New Jersey Law Journal.  He was listed in New Jersey Super Lawyers® Rising Stars (2008-2016). Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware (1999) and a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law (2002). He is a New Jersey and New York State Bar Association member. Chris has been a valuable addition to Ferreira’s leadership team.

Jerry Killian

Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer

Jerry has been working with Ferreira since 2015 and is responsible for managing the Ferreira Family of Companies’ financial operations including financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, internal audit, and tax. Prior to Ferreira, Jerry was a Partner for a national accounting firm, overseeing their Construction Services Division. Jerry has over 35 years of public accounting experience, including financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, identifying, and resolving tax and business issues and opportunities as well as overseeing tax compliance on federal and state matters. Jerry holds CPA and CCIFP Designations. Jerry is a member of the Moles Organization and serves on their finance committee. Jerry is also a Board Member and Treasurer of the Construction Roundtable of NJ. Jerry has authored CFMA’s Basics of Construction Accounting and numerous financial-related articles for various construction trade associations.

John Ciabattari

Vice President of Florida, Hobe Sound Office

John Ciabattari has been with Ferreira Southern since 2011 and is responsible for managing all operational activities for the Hobe Sound office, ensuring the development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective practices meet Ferreira's current and future needs. John joined Ferreira as a Project Superintendent with more than 20 years of experience in civil and marine construction. His trajectory of working his way up through the ranks gives John the distinct advantage of understanding and relating to all aspects of a construction project. John has proven himself in the industry, making valuable career-long relationships allowing him to foster opportunities for Ferreira Southern and his team.

Danny Garcia, MBA

Vice of President of Florida, Medley Office

Danny Garcia has been with Ferreira Southern since 2016 and is responsible for developing and implementing high-level business strategies and managing the overall operations and resources of the Miami division. Danny manages this division by utilizing field presence, implementing effective communication strategies, and encouraging professional development in all his team members. He has served the construction industry and the South Florida community for over 25 years. His experience extends from heavy highway to building construction in the public and private sectors. Danny has experience in estimating, project management, operations management, and design-build projects and has been part of the executive management team for many prominent construction firms. Through this experience, Danny has gained a reputation for being a good business partner and problem solver, paying close attention to customer service and developing win-win solutions.

Al Marsocci, MBA

Chief Operating Officer of Ferreira Atlantic Coastal

Al has been with Ferreira Construction Co. since 2017 and is responsible for overseeing the construction & engineering operations, as well as the financial stability of Ferreira Atlantic Coastal, which encompasses the Greater New England Area. Al has over 30 years of construction and engineering experience in the utility and public market sectors with extensive knowledge in bridge design, heavy/highway civil construction, and the distribution and transmission energy sector. Al came to Ferreira after previously working for two major utility companies in the Northeast at the executive level, providing leadership, guidance, and support, while also driving operational excellence in these organizations. Al is part of the Ferreira executive management team that is tasked with growing Ferreira’s footprint throughout the country, as well as developing and transforming the now-successful Ferreira Atlantic Coastal Division which continues to grow under his leadership.

Curtis Compton

Vice President Mid Atlantic Utility Division

Curtis Compton has been with Ferreira since 2022 and is responsible for overseeing Ferreira’s newly added Virginia operations. Curtis has been working in the utility construction industry for over 30 years. Starting his career as a groundman before working up to a journeyman/lineman, Curtis has managed large portfolios for construction, program, and materials management; safety/environmental; QA/QC; budgetary cost estimates; constructability reviews; and EPC projects. Lauded for his responsiveness to client needs, being solutions-oriented, and quick to roll up his sleeves to get the job done, Curtis continues to build long-standing relationships with his clients and teams.

Frank Pergola, CSP,CHST

Corporate Safety Director

Frank has been with Ferreira since 2019 and is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of the health and safety policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations throughout Ferreira. Frank is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with more than 17 years of experience as a Health and Safety Specialist in the construction industry. Frank’s background includes safety supervision for a variety of high-profile heavy civil, infrastructure, government agencies, remediation, and capital improvement projects. Frank uses a hands-on approach to guide his team to minimize risk, control losses, and maintain regulatory compliance throughout all locations. His ability to support multiple projects, assess job hazards, and manage complex issues involving a high degree of technical challenges allows him to execute, develop, and implement Ferreira’s safety program.
