Bridgeport Harbor 05 Combined Cycle

Location:
Bridgeport, Connecticut

Owner:
PSEG Fossil

Year Completed:
2018

To support the electrical system reliability, PSEG Power Connecticut built a new gas-fired combined cycle power plant in Bridgeport, CT.  The state-of-the-art high efficiency combined cycled unit 5 is the most efficient power plant in PSEG’s fossil fleet.  The goal of the project was to create an environmentally sustainable future and reduce electrical costs for customers.  Ferreira performed most of the underground (anchor bolt down) civil work to support the new power plant.  Ferreira’s scope of work included 3,600 LF of sheet pile wall and 140,000 CY of imported site fill that elevated the site 15 feet to eliminate potential damage from future storms.  In addition, Ferreira installed the entire substructures package which included concrete foundations requiring over 30,000 CYs of concrete, 4 million pounds of reenforcing steel, 34,000 LF of underground mechanical piping and 100,000 LF of 2” to 6” PVC and RGS duct banks (concrete encased).

50%

More Electricity

A combined-cycle plant produces up to 50% more electricity than a simple-cycle plant.
